Citizens of Northwest,
There is an urgent need for us all to complete the 2020 census.
The City of Northwest currently has a certified population of 840. Population is a key factor in many of state and local funding distribution formulas. An accurate Census count which increases our population number could enable the City to receive additional, much-needed funding to help better serve you.
The bottom line is this: a higher population means more money for the City of Northwest! If you don’t believe one person can make a difference, consider this:
- $1,623 in federal funds and $200 in state funds per person per year are allocated in North Carolina based on census data;
- The 2020 census impacts funding decisions for the City of Northwest for the next 10 years.
We need your help today to ensure that our Census response rate is the highest in all of Brunswick County and in the State of North Carolina.
The Census is safe and confidential, and it only takes a few minutes. There are a few ways that you can complete the census:
- Call 1-844-330-2020
- Visit my2020census.gov
If you haven’t completed the Census, please do so today. We are counting on YOU!
Regards,
Mayor James A. Knox
