Duke Energy: Staying connected with our business community

The COVID-19 emergency has brought many disruptive changes to those that make up our communities, but few more significant than to business owners who are navigating both personal and professional impacts. Whether it’s reducing business hours, enduring temporary closures or scrambling to find new ways to operate, the pandemic has created a trying time for many.

Through all of the change, you can count on Duke Energy’s commitment to reliably serve your energy needs in a safe manner.

Financial relief

We realize that many of our customers are facing unusual financial hardships as a result of the pandemic. That’s why we’ve taken several measures to help lessen the strain on those most impacted.

We’ve suspended disconnections for nonpayment and waived fees for late payments. We’ve also relaxed our timelines for payment extensions.

You may be experiencing changes in cash flow. Please stay as current as possible with payments to avoid accumulating a large balance that may be harder to manage later. You can find several business resources and assistance options on our COVID-19 website if you are experiencing difficulties at this time.

Stay Alert to Scams

Sadly, we all must stay alert to the possibility of criminal activity, especially during times of uncertainty. Remember that Duke Energy never asks for personal or detailed business information over the phone and never demands immediate payment using money orders or gift cards. If you are unsure if a call or visit is legitimate, hang up or decline service and call us directly.

Customer Service

You can take care of many routine service and account issues via our automated phone system, online or through our mobile app.

If you have a more complex issue and need to speak with a customer service representative, we are available to help you Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

We will continue to look for ways to help you negotiate these difficult times and understand how essential small businesses are to keeping our communities vital. You can keep up with our preparations as circumstances change by visiting dukeenergyupdates.com.

Stay healthy and safe,
